Sir Rowland Hill, the 16th-century owner and polymath, played a pivotal role in shaping the Elizabethan era. A renowned publisher, he facilitated the printing of the Geneva Bible, a vital text of the Protestant Reformation.
A centuries later, the estate weathered the turmoil of the Civil War. Following the war’s conclusion, Soulton Hall entered a period of agricultural innovation. The establishment of a model farm on the grounds reflected a progressive outlook on land management. This spirit of innovation continues today, with the current owners committed to sustainability and regenerative farming practices. A remarkable testament to Soulton Hall’s enduring story is the preserved pavement by Hannah Deakin. Her work serves as a reminder of the diverse individuals who have left their mark on this historic place.
