In the sixteenth century, Old Sir Rowland Hill retreated to his rural Shropshire headquarters at Soulton to undertake serious and very sensitive statecraft that unlocked national renewal and recovery, at a tense time. To do this work, he constructed a house built in a clever set of self-admitting architectural codes. To unwind, he and his Tudor friends engaged in rest and leisure activities such as drama and rural retreats.
Today, Soulton continues to welcome people for serious work and serious fun.

Events We Cater For

Soulton offers a variety of spaces for lectures, events, and dining. The historic Soulton Court building boasts lecture and event rooms that can comfortably seat up to 100 guests in a theater-style layout, complemented by dining spaces with the same capacity. Within Soulton Hall itself, more intimate rooms steeped in history await discovery, each offering a unique ambiance.
Outside, a charming selection of outdoor spaces beckons. The chess court, Epidaurus Court, and Base Court provide an intriguing mix of garden settings. Guests are also welcome to explore the wider estate, including the enchanting As You Like It Wood.
