The Manor House

Stay in Soulton Hall to fully unlock Old Sir Rowland’s elite Renaissance Games.

The building now called Soulton Hall (and thought of as the manor house in modern minds) is actually the corps de logis, or elite accommodation block, of Old Sir Rowland’s 1550s palace complex.

Rooms here were reserved for his eight most important guests, and only by staying in this building can you properly unlock some of the clever renaissance games he is still inviting us to play.

The bedrooms in Soulton Hall have original 1550s features such as stone mullioned windows, oak floorboards, a secret door, Old Sir Rowland’s wood panelling, art from the 17th and 18th centuries, a special view of the As You Like It Wood and the Dancing Pavement or a fourposter bed. Access the house late in the evening and at dawn shows you light tricks with the sun built into the house not visible to day visitors.
