The recent Shrewsbury Regatta, a splash of excitement on the second May weekend, was a celebration of athleticism on the River Severn.

Crews battled it out in sprint races, and cheers erupted from the banks as victors crossed the finish line.

Beyond the competition, the riverside bustled with activity. Food stalls offered tasty treats, vendors displayed unique finds, and the picturesque setting provided a charming backdrop. The Shrewsbury Regatta wasn’t just about racing; it was a vibrant day out, show the dedication of rowers and the thrill of the sport.

John Ashton has for many years been a race offical at this event. A number of members of the Ashton family are committed to the sport, and assisted in establishing the Harper Adams Rowing Club, as well as rowing at school and university.
