A New Perspective on a Classic
This is not the Dracula you think you know. This bold adaptation shifts the lens away from the Count and centers entirely on Mina Harker.
In this version, Mina stands before a skeptical Victorian scientific society to recount her harrowing experiences. No longer a passive victim, she is a recognized vampire hunter fighting to validate her testimony against a wall of academic disbelief. The play follows her struggle to reclaim her truth from an establishment that would rather see her silenced, offering a powerful look at expertise, agency, and the courage to speak in the face of institutional skepticism.

The choice of Soulton Hall as a venue for this story is particularly striking. Our home, a rare Tudor survivor built in 1556, was designed as a monument to Renaissance humanist thought and scientific curiosity.
Watching Mina Harker battle for the survival of logic and evidence feels uniquely resonant here. As the sun sets and the “pungency of the night” settles over the grounds, the atmosphere of Victorian gothic dread meets the deep, historic gravity of our Tudor walls. It is a setting that heightens the tension between the rational world and the encroaching supernatural.
