Soulful Sounds & Solstice Sunsets
Celebrate the shortest day of the year with a magical evening of music and history!
December 21st for a unique experience. We’ll begin by gathering at the awe-inspiring Soulton Long Barrow to witness the winter solstice sunset. It should start around 1500.

Following this atmospheric experience, we’ll head to Soulton Court for a special winter solstice concert. The program is still in development, but expect to be enchanted by the music of Sir Edward German, a local contemporary of Edward Elgar.

We’ll be performing pieces inspired by Shakespeare’s works, with a focus on his beloved comedy As You Like It.
The evening wouldn’t be complete without a further touch of local history. We’ll also be including the lively “Soulton Jigg,” a tune first recorded in the early 1700s that some believe is connected to the music for the dance scene in As You Like It.
