The afternoon also was the the unveiling of a previously unseen treasure: the priest hole at Soulton Hall! For those unfamiliar with Tudor history, priest holes were secret compartments built into houses to conceal priests  and other persicuted people during a time of religious persecution.

The event was a captivating blend of historical knowledge, personal anecdotes, and of course, a peek into a genuine piece of Tudor history. Melita’s passion for the period was infectious, and her book, 1000 Tudor People, promises to be an invaluable resource for anyone interested in this fascinating era.
