The year 2023 markes a momentous occasion for literature enthusiasts worldwide – the 400th anniversary of the First Folio.
Published in 1623, this collection of William Shakespeare’s plays stands as a cornerstone of English literature. Its importance lies not only in preserving the Bard’s works for future generations, but also in the very act of its creation.
The First Folio, compiled by Shakespeare’s friends and colleagues, brought together 36 of his plays, 18 of which would have otherwise been lost.
