Our visit went far beyond simply indulging in award-winning cheese (although, let’s be honest, that was a highlight!). We delved into the rich tapestry of local history with the Appleby family. Together, we explored the whispers of “ancient cheese lore,” specifically a secret Soulton recipe. This forgotten gem has the potential to be revived for the first time in over a century!
The conversation continued as we delved into the exciting world of local history. We share a fascinating connection with the Applebys through the legacy of Old Sir Rowland Hill, as Abbey Farm is part of Rowland Hill’s wider holdings and hence inside the As You Like It landscape.
