Tenebrae Service

A moving service of Tenebrae will be held at the historic Moot Hall, led by Reverend John Jukes of St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Wem. Tenebrae, meaning ‘darkness’ or ‘shadows,’ is a service traditionally observed during Holy Week, featuring the gradual extinguishing of candles.

Following the service, the historic Chapel within Soulton Hall, which is architecturally aligned to the Easter morning sunrise, will be open for exceptional public access.

In keeping with the legacy of Sir Rowland Hill, this act of worship is open to all faiths and denominations, reflecting the family’s commitment to ecumenical inclusivity, particularly around the observance of Easter.
