We just had a truly awe-inspiring experience at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery! The “Gathering Light: A Bronze Age Golden Sun” exhibition left us absolutely speechless.
The centerpiece? A 3,000-year-old sun pendant, or bulla, unearthed right here in Shropshire! It’s mind-boggling to think something so beautiful and intricate has survived for so long.
It is the only the second bulla ever found in Britain, and the sun design on it is unlike anything else ever seen.
The pendant is a masterpiece. Crafted from gold and just a few centimeters wide, the detail work is incredible. Standing before it, we were truly impressed by the craftsmanship and artistry of those who created it millennia ago.
The entire experience sparked our curiosity about the Bronze Age. It’s incredible to learn about how people lived back then and the amazing things they created.
If history piques your interest even a little, then you absolutely have to check out this exhibition before it closes on Sunday! It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see such a rare and incredible piece of history in person. We hear the bulla is heading to the British Museum next year, so this might be your only chance to see it in Shropshire!
