A Captivating Exhibition by Sam Pooley-Stride
Soulton Hall was delighted to host a major exhibition by Shrewsbury artist Sam Pooley-Stride, titled Seas of the Moon Too. This exciting exhibition took place on March 18 and 19, 2022, and showcased Pooley-Stride’s unique exploration of seeing something in nothingness.
Pooley-Stride’s work was inspired by the Lunar Maria, the dark plains on the Moon, and by the history and setting of Soulton Hall itself. Through a variety of techniques, the artist created a captivating visual dialogue between the cosmos and the natural world.
A Glimpse into the Cosmos
Seas of the Moon Too was a visually stunning and thought-provoking exhibition. Pooley-Stride’s use of light and shadow evoked the vastness of space, while his exploration of form and texture invited viewers to contemplate the mysteries of the universe.
A Reflection on Soulton
The exhibition was also a unique opportunity to experience Soulton Hall in a new light. Pooley-Stride’s work was displayed throughout Soulton Court and the Soulton Long Barrow, creating a captivating interplay between art and architecture. Visitors were able to see the Hall in a fresh light, and to appreciate its rich history and connection to the natural world.
