This March marks the third year of a significant academic partnership as Lady Margaret Hall (LMH), Oxford, continues its series of outreach visits to Thomas Adams, a local comprehensive school in Wem.

While the specific LMH Fellows participating in the program change from year to year (it has inluded included Prof Todd Huffman, Dr Thomas Mannack, and Dr Joshua Bennett), they represent a consistent path between the university and our North Shropshire community.

The core purpose of these visits is to ensure that the University of Oxford maintains a presence here in Shropshire. By engaging with a local comprehensive school, the program makes the institution feel far less remote to students and families who might otherwise see it as out of reach.
The initiative is built on the belief that excellence can be found in every environment and that the path to world-class education should be open to all. It demonstrates that talent is gladly welcomed and that a state-sector education provides a robust foundation for the highest academic ambitions. Soulton Hall has been pleased to support this work from the beginning, having made the initial introductions and continued to provide in-kind support through accommodation and hospitality for the visiting academics.
