What an incredibly moving moment we shared today at Soulton Hall. We were honored to join renowned photographer Andrew Fusek Peters to observe the extraordinary Winter Solstice light phenomenon at the Soulton Long Barrow. As the sun reached its lowest point in the sky this afternoon, we watched in silence as the light performed its annual ritual.

As the sun begins its descent, the light passes through the stained-glass door, acting as a beautiful celestial alarm clock. For a brief, magical window, the low winter sun refracts through the glass, flooding the stone chamber with a “rainbow” of vibrant color. It is a powerful reminder of the steady, rhythmic pulse of our natural world and the return of longer days.

This incredible structure was brought to life by Sacred Stones Ltd, who worked meticulously to create a monument that feels both timeless and timely. The project reached its completion on the Winter Solstice of 2021, making today’s alignment a celebration of the Barrow’s own anniversary.
