We recently had the pleasure of retuning to Berrington Hall, a truly charming National Trust property in the heart of Herefordshire conveniently accessed of the A49 if you are traveling south from Soulton.

Berrington Hall is a gem of Georgian design, one of Henry Holland’s masterpieces, and it has a wonderful sense of refined domesticity and thoughtfulness.

Walking through the house, we loved seeing the clever details.
The collections are beautifully presented, giving you a real feel for the family who lived there.

We especially enjoyed the stunning ceilings , especially the one in the Library which arranges luminaries like Bacon, Shakespeare, and Pope. It certainly made us ponder: whom would you pick today to adorn a similar hall of worthies?

Beyond the house, the parkland at Berrington is just as captivating. It was designed by the renowned Capability Brown, and you can really see his signature style in the rolling hills, serene lake, and carefully placed trees that frame stunning views. It’s an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll, a picnic, or simply soaking in the tranquility.
We were also fascinated to learn about the new gardening initiatives, including the planting of an impressive 55,000 plants and bulbs, adding a vibrant new layer to this already beautiful landscape.
What really struck us about Berrington was how accessible it all is. It’s a fantastic example of the UK’s rich heritage being cared for and shared for everyone to enjoy.
