We were fortunate to have a place to attend today’s recent Annual Lord Mayor’s Event with Gresham College.
At Soulton Hall followed the proceedings with particular interest: our connection to the City of London runs deep, tracing back to the significant legacy of Sir Rowland Hill in 1549/50, a figure whose impact resonates even today.
It is with this historical tie in mind that we have been especially attentive to the mayoralty of Alderman Alastair King.
Within the speech the Lord Mayor made reference to Tudor city fathers being attacked by pirates, which we took to be a reference to the biography of our own Old Sir Rowland,
His recent lecture, centred around the compelling theme of Growth Unleashed, offered a powerful and insightful analysis of the UK’s current standing which presents challenges, and signposts opportunities.
