Mark your calendars! The delightful Wem Sweet Pea Show is set to return in 2025 on Saturday, July 19th and Sunday, July 20th, from 10 am to 4 pm each day.

This weekend-long event is a vibrant celebration of the delicate and beautifully perfumed sweet pea flowers.

Wem holds a special place in the history of sweet peas, thanks to the work of Henry Eckford: originally from Scotland, Eckford settled in Wem in the 1800s and dedicated his life to cultivating new varieties of these charming blooms. By the end of his lifetime, he had created over 200 different varieties, earning him the title, “The Father of the Sweet Pea.”

The Wem Sweet Pea Show proudly highlights the Old Fashioned Sweet Pea varieties, even dedicating an entire class division to pre-1910 blooms. It’s a fantastic opportunity to see these historical and fragrant beauties up close.
