On this 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, we remember the deep pain and sacrifices of World War II and the peace that was secured.
This day also calls to mind the vital work of reconciliation and the enduring friendships forged with former adversaries as we continue to strive for lasting global stability.
Furthermore, we express our sincere gratitude to all who serve today, dedicating themselves to the cause of peace and security around the world.

Towards the end of this special VE Day, our local community gathered at the Millennium Green for an important shared moment of reflection and remembrance, an event thoughtfully organised by Wem Town Council at which a royal proclamation was read and the event was attended by a Deputy Lieutenant for the county of Shropshire. We were pleased to be part of it.
