Simon Baynes MP, who is a North Shropshire prospective parliamentary candidate for the election that will happen in the next 12 months and currently has a seat in the House of Commons, visited Soulton today.

Commenting on his visit, Simon said:

For the first time ever, the beautiful Soulton Wood was open to the public today in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and I greatly enjoyed my visit there among the bluebells in the forest that inspired Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It‘.

Many thanks to Tim Ashton of Soulton Hall for hosting the event and explaining to us beforehand the fascinating links between this lovely woodland and the bard. You can read his full explanation here.

Thank you also to all the Macmillan volunteers who acted as marshals, made and served the delicious cakes and tea and grew the plants of which I bought quite a few. An exceptionally interesting and enjoyable afternoon!
