A series of lectures on particle physics recently took place at Thomas Adams School, Wem and were delivered by Prof Todd Huffman, a physics professor from Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford. Soulton Hall was involved in hosting the Oxford Fellow, and supporting the events.

The talks aimed to introduce students to the complexities of quantum mechanics and subatomic particles.

Prof Huffman covered a range of topics, including the Higgs boson, the photoelectric effect, and the properties of photons. He also discussed his research experience at CERN, the European Organization for research of this nature.

Beyond the lectures themselves, Prof Huffman emphasized the opportunities available for young people to participate in research projects and access this area of learing and research. This discussion sparked interest among the students, who peppered him with insightful questions demonstrating their understanding and curiosity.

The lectures serve as a successful example of outreach programs fostering scientific interest in younger generations. Soulton Hall joins Thomas Adams School in extending its gratitude to Prof Huffman for his time and enthusiasm.

We are excited to see what the future holds for these curious and talented students!
