Looking back: Lockdown – Curtain Up
The stage lights may have dimmed across the country during the lockdowns, but at Soulton Hall (with its unique drama heritage), the spirit of theatre remained vibrant. A unique partnership with the National Youth Theatre (NYT) was formed in the emergency, and our grounds became a safe haven for the return of live performances.
The Last Harvest: A Beacon of Hope
In the summer of 2020, following the initial wave of lockdowns, Soulton Hall proudly hosted the NYT for a groundbreaking performance. A specially devised play titled The Last Harvest took to the specially constructed stage, marking a momentous occasion – the first live, in-person performance for the NYT since the pandemic began.
Animal Farm Roams the Soulton
The successful partnership continued into 2021. The outstanding NYT talent returned to Soulton Hall, this time bringing George Orwell’s classic, Animal Farm, to life. The open-air setting of our estate provided a safe and idyllic backdrop for this timeless tale.
These remarkable performances were a testament to the resilience of the arts and the power of collaboration. Soulton Hall was honored to play a role in facilitating the return of live theatre, showcasing the exceptional talent of the NYT’s young actors.
