Soilsmological Assessment of Precinct Grounds, Soulton Hall Linked to the Memory and Relics of Erkenwald

Note on Publication: In accordance with protocols established for site security, this calendar entry and the associated blog were held privately for twelve months, releasing to the public record twelve months after the investigation concluded. 

• A blind soilsmology investigation of the site linked to Erkenwald’s translation will be held.

• The field team from Exeter University and Harper Adams University will arrive on site alongside Earth Rover representatives and at least one member of the Ashton family.

• Before the non-invasive work begins, the prayer sent by the Lord Bishop of Lichfield will be read aloud:

Almighty God,

who by the three days’ resting of your only Son in the tomb sanctified the graves of all who die in the hope of resurrection:

grant peace and eternal light to those buried here or elsewhere,
and strengthen our faith that both we and they will together rise again, as Jesus did on the third day,
to behold you, our only true and eternal God, in our flesh.

Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God for ever and ever.

• This will be read by the senior member of the Ashton family present and the investigation team, and will be followed by the Lord’s Prayer ahead of the non-invasive work.

• Surface geophone arrays will be deployed across the precinct sector to capture seismic wave velocities through the soil strata.

• Data collection will map variations in compaction and subsurface horizon depths without disturbing the ground.

• Equipment will be packed down and secured when work concludes.

• This calendar item will be made public one year after the investigation is done on the Soulton Hall website, for the safety of the site.
