“Number in Time and Space” a BYRGA GENIHT Ltd. show
Running from Wednesday, August 20th to Sunday, August 31st, 2025, at 74 High Street, Colchester, this free exhibition is a chance to see five years of dedicated research by partners James D. Wenn and James Syrett of Byrga Geniht Ltd. Their work looks at the important and often-missed role of the rhombic dodecahedron in history – a geometric shape that links ancient mathematics to old art, design, and our modern culture.
These historical and geometric insights are essential to understanding Old Sir Rowland and Soulton Hall.
This is not a mere collection of pieces; it’s a dynamic exhibition of collaborative artworks.
Each commissioned work approaches a different part of this rich history through its connected web of ancient mathematics. It also offers a look into the meanings found in heirloom art and design all around us, and it’s leading the way for a tradition that was once lost to become part of contemporary art and everyday life again – a true “new renaissance” that mirrors our own ongoing work.
Besides the work of James and James, the exhibition includes pieces from other talented artists like:

Please note, it’s located in the upstairs galleries, which are accessed by stairs only.
