Soulton Hall is pleased to highlight the upcoming Wem Sweet Pea Show, a well-established local event celebrating the sweet pea flower.

This annual show takes place in Wem, Shropshire, and offers a weekend dedicated to appreciating these delicate and fragrant blooms.  The show pays homage to Henry Eckford, a prominent horticulturist who resided in Wem during the 19th century. Eckford’s dedication to cultivating sweet peas resulted in over 200 varieties, earning him the title “The Father of the Sweet Pea.”

The Wem Sweet Pea Show includes a special category for pre-1910 sweet pea varieties, a nod to the flower’s history.
