It is that time of year again.
The arrival of June means our annual summer solstice sunrise gathering is just around the corner, and Soulton Long Barrow invites you to join us once again for this popular morning tradition.
As a Sacred Stones site, the barrow is hosting this gentle event to bring people together to welcome the longest day of the year, Sunday, June 21 between 4:15 AM and 6 AM
The plan is exactly as it is every year: a simple, low-key morning to watch the first light enter the stone chamber, listen to the early birdsong, and enjoy the company of friends and neighbours as a new day begins.

The barrow remains a place for everyone. We welcome visitors from all backgrounds, philosophies, and viewpoints. This annual gathering does not follow any specific tradition; instead, the barrow offers a space dedicated to our shared human connection and the quiet enjoyment of nature together. It is a wonderful opportunity to step away from the busy pace of daily life and share a peaceful moment in a special landscape.
What to Expect on the Morning
This is a relaxed, quiet event. Because the early morning hour can be chilly and damp, we highly recommend dressing in warm layers and wearing sturdy footwear for the walk. You are also very welcome to bring along a flask with a coffee or tea to enjoy as the sun comes up.
Important Information & Parking
To help us manage the morning safely and ensure a peaceful experience for everyone, we ask that all visitors note a few guidelines:

Free Tickets: Admission is entirely free, but because this event is popular, space is limited. Every person attending must register for a free ticket in advance so that we can host everyone safely.

Main Parking: If you are able-bodied, please park your vehicle in the main car park at Soulton Hall and enjoy the short, familiar walk up to the barrow.

Accessible Parking: Parking spaces directly next to the barrow are strictly limited. Please leave these spaces free for individuals with disabilities or limited mobility who cannot manage the walk.
