DESCRIPTION:Soulton Hall is honoured to present\, in association with Ss Peter and Paul’s\, Wem\, a special lecture for local people in Wem and Shropshire about aspects of London ceremonial. \nAfter the Silent Ceremony and the Fanfare \nThis follows the invitation to Tim Ashton to deliver the Quit Rents address in October 2024\, and our awareness that these matters are of interest to local people. \nThe Great Hall. Royal Courts of Justice \nThis lecture aims to foster a deeper understanding of the historical ties between North Shropshire and London\, and to show how work is underway seeking to renew these connections and celebrate the rich heritage of the region. \nWaiting for the ceremony to begin \nA brief report will be made on the attendance at the Lord Mayor’s Show and the Silent Ceremony\, which followed the Quit Rents address in November 2024. \nThe Rt Hon. The Lord Mayor\, Alastair King DL returns to Mansion House from the Lord Mayor’s Show \nThis event provides an opportunity for those in the local community to gain insights into the fascinating history of Quit Rents and their connection to Soulton Hall. \nA salute to the new Lord Mayor before he enters Mansion House \nJoin for an engaging discussion. \nThe view of the parade from Mansion House \nThe event is free to attend\, but you are invited to make a donation to the Church to support its upkeep and to help sustain its work in charitable activities. \nGog and Magog\, the traditional guardians of the City of London\, and they have been carried in the Lord Mayor’s Show since the reign of Henry V.
