DESCRIPTION:Due to the persistent high winds and potential damage caused by Storm Amy\, all permissive paths and woodland trails on the Soulton Hall estate are formally closed to all members of the public with immediate effect. \nThis measure is being taken for your safety to mitigate the risks associated with: \nFalling trees and branches. \nFlying debris. \nExtremely muddy and hazardous underfoot conditions. \nWarning Regarding Public Rights of Way (PROWs)\nWe strongly ADVISE AGAINST the use of any Public Rights of Way (PROWs) that cross the Soulton Hall estate while the adverse weather conditions persist. \nThese footpaths and bridleways may be blocked or highly dangerous due to the storm. Users proceed entirely at their own risk. \nThe safety of our visitors and the public is our first priority. We urge everyone to heed this warning and stay clear of the paths until the storm has passed and a full safety assessment can be carried out.

This is a unique opportunity to experience the extraordinary atmosphere of the Long Barrow in a new way. No previous experience is needed—simply bring a mat\, chair\, or cushion to make yourself comfortable\, and a blanket to stay warm. Traditionally\, the High Sheriff is a direct appointee of the Crown\, a practice that continues to this day\, signifying the enduring link between the monarch and the counties of England and Wales. \nOn Thursday\, 10th April 2025\, at St Michael’s Church\, Little Ness\, Shropshire\, Jane Trowbridge JP was declared the new High Sheriff of Shropshire. \nMs. Trowbridge’s principal focus during her Shrieval year will be empowering young people in the county whose lives have been affected by challenging circumstances such as fragmented families\, long-term unemployment\, addiction\, exploitation\, domestic violence\, and other forms of abuse. \nHighlighting the presence of vulnerable youth despite Shropshire’s strong community spirit\, Ms. Trowbridge\, drawing on her experience as a magistrate\, aims to support the dedicated individuals within local charities and organizations who tirelessly assist these young people facing mental health issues and the risk of criminalization. This bold act quickly drew the attention of Royalist forces\, who dispatched a substantial army of around 5\,000 soldiers under Lord Capel. Built by Sir Rowland Hill\, a man woven into the fabric of the Tudor era\, the house is constructed in Renaissance codes\, waiting to be deciphered. \nWithin its walls lies a story of defiance to oppression\, of artistic inspiration\, and of the dawn of a new age. \nSir Rowland Hill\, a pivotal figure in Reformation and on the Privy Councils of Henry VIII\, Edward VI\, Mary I and Elizabeth I\, used Soulton Hall as a clandestine base for his most daring act – the work one the Elizabethan Golden Age and the publication of the Geneva Bible. This revolutionary translation\, deemed heretical in its moment and later ratified\, is one of the most important texts ever printed. \nSoulton Hall was also a refuge. During times of persecution\, the house provided sanctuary to those in danger\, offering them a safe haven from the storm. \nScholarly materials\, were also kept secure home within Soulton’s walls\, ensuring their survival for future generations. \nSir Rowland’s influence extended beyond the realm of religion. \nHis network of contacts and his passion for the arts played a pivotal role in igniting the creative spark of William Shakespeare\, is cousin via Mary Arden. DESCRIPTION:We recently came across a printed reference to a public showing of the collaborative work “IN HOC SIGNO” by Jacob Chandler\, James Syrette\, and James Wenn at Soulton Hall on April 17th. \nWe wanted to take a moment to gently clarify this information. It appears there might have been a simple misunderstanding\, and we want to ensure everyone has the correct details for experiencing this artwork. \nWhile Soulton Hall is a wonderful venue that often hosts exciting cultural events\, the public showing of “IN HOC SIGNO” is actually planned for a different location and time. \nWe’re delighted to share that “IN HOC SIGNO” will be showcased at the esteemed Minories Gallery in Colchester. Art enthusiasts will have the opportunity to see this collaborative piece during the gallery’s opening hours on the following dates in August: \n\nAugust 21st – 24th (Thursday – Sunday)\nAugust 28th – 31st (Thursday – Sunday)\n\nPlease make a note of these dates and the correct location if you are hoping to view “IN HOC SIGNO”.
