SUMMARY:Preliminary Issue Trial Opening in NFU Mutual Group Action
DESCRIPTION:Case Name: \n\nSouth Farm Ltd & Others and\nInnventure Ltd & Others v. NFU Mutual\n\nCourt: \n\nHigh Court of Justice\, Business and Property Courts (Commercial Court)\n\nDate: \n\nTuesday\, 10 November 2026\n\nTime: \n\nAfternoon Session (Typically 2:00 PM)\n\nLocation: \n\nExpected to be The Rolls Building\, Fetter Lane\, London\n\nEvent Summary\nThis hearing marks the start of the substantive oral arguments in the Preliminary Issue Trial against NFU Mutual. After 1.5 days of judicial pre-reading (beginning Monday\, 9 November)\, the court will sit to determine critical legal questions regarding COVID-19 business interruption claims. \nWhy This is Significant\n\n\nSystemic Importance: This is one of the largest group actions against a single insurer\, representing over 100 venues (hospitality and farming businesses). \n\n\nKey Issues: The court will decide if NFU Mutual’s policy wordings—specifically the definition of an “incident”—cover the 2020 lockdowns. It will also address the AICOW (Additional Increased Cost of Working) provisions\, which could significantly increase the insurer’s total financial exposure. \n\n\nLong-Awaited: Policyholders have been seeking remedies for over half a decade; this trial follows a critical Case Management Conference held in December 2025 that joined the two largest claim groups together. \n\n\n\nSchedule at a Glance\n\n\n\nDate\nPhase\nDetail\n\n\n\n\nMon\, 9 Nov\nJudicial Reading\nCourt not in session; Judge reviewing evidence.\n\n\nTue\, 10 Nov (AM)\nJudicial Reading\nFinal pre-reading for the Bench.\n\n\nTue\, 10 Nov (PM)\nOpening Day\nSubstantive hearing commences.\n\n\n11 – 13 Nov\nOral Arguments\nEvidence and legal submissions continue.

SUMMARY:The Shrewsbury Dialogues: Soulton Hall & Shakespeare
DESCRIPTION:“If Truth Holds True Contents”: Exploring Hidden Harmonies Known to Shakespeare\nFollowing his appearance on the globally renowned podcast The Rest Is History\, Tim Ashton returns to Shrewsbury School to share extraordinary historical and architectural insights in person. \nThe Shrewsbury Dialogues are a vibrant fixture of public intellectual life. Hosted by Shrewsbury School as part of its active partnership agenda\, these free public talks invite the wider community to join in thought-provoking\, interdisciplinary discussions. \nEvent Details\n\n\nTitle: “If Truth Holds True Contents”: Exploring Hidden Harmonies Known to Shakespeare \n\n\nSpeaker: Tim Ashton \n\n\nDate: Thursday\, 28th January 2027 \n\n\nTime: 7:30 PM (Talk begins) \n\n\nVenue: Shrewsbury School (Exact location on site to be confirmed) \n\n\nAdmission: Entirely Free (Public booking details to follow) \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Shakespeare: portrait by Shrewsbury School pupils given to Soulton\n \n \n \n \n \n The Rest Is History podcast recently featured this material\n \n \n \n \n \n Soulton Hall in 1560 created by Syrett of Byrga Geniht Ltd for Soulton Hall.\n \n \n\nThese talks are entirely free to attend\, and we are delighted that the research and heritage surrounding Soulton Hall will be featured in this upcoming session during the Lent term. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Shrewsbury School\, Shropshire at Kingsland\n \n \n \n \n \n The school’s 1627–1630 statues of Philomathes and Polymathes are exact contemporaries of Shakespeare’s Folios.\n \n \n \n\nAbout the Talk\nTim Ashton—born and raised at Soulton Hall\, the mysterious manor constructed by his ancestor Sir Rowland Hill—recently explored this unique home alongside historian Tom Holland. Holland described Soulton Hall as “one of the most amazing houses you will find anywhere in England” and “something of a Tudor Da Vinci code.” \nSir Rowland Hill—the inspiration for the hero in As You Like It\, a prominent Tudor statesman\, merchant prince\, and pivotal figure in the origin story of Shrewsbury School—was a master of cultural preservation during a turbulent era. Though overlooked for centuries\, new research brings his legacy back into the light. \nBuilding upon these findings\, Tim will explore how Soulton Hall has been identified as the lost setting of a Shakespearean play. He will offer a deeper look into what “Shakespeare’s wedding play” represents on a deeper level as a monument to cultural preservation and reveal the true identity of Sir Rowland. \nThis presentation highlights the architectural decoding and technical analysis undertaken by expert heritage consultants James Wenn and James Syrett of the Byrga Geniht Consultancy. Their work recovers the forgotten geometrical language and Renaissance mathematical frameworks hidden within historic British architecture. Notably\, the research highlights how Sir Rowland safeguarded historic artifacts during a period of monumental change. \nA Continuing Academic Connection\nReturning to Shrewsbury School to share these discoveries marks a warm renewal of academic connections originally sparked by Michael Schützer-Weissmann. It celebrates how thoughtful teaching and open inquiry can bear unexpected and extraordinary fruit. \nMichael Schützer-Weissmann – Tribute in THE SPECTATOR \nTim studied Law at Oxford before holding a Howarth and Smith Fellowship in Los Angeles. He holds a Master’s degree in soil and agriculture and is currently a Master’s candidate at the Shakespeare Institute. Proudly dyslexic\, Tim credits his neurodivergence with helping unlock these architectural insights. He is honoured to work alongside a collaborative\, diverse team—echoing the play’s enduring themes of harmony and a place for everyone. \nJoining the Discussion\nThrough the Shrewsbury Dialogues\, Shrewsbury School continues to invite local residents\, curious minds\, and the broader community to explore transformative historical inquiries. \nPlease keep an eye out for upcoming public booking details to reserve your seat for this free event during the Lent term. We look forward to welcoming you to an engaging evening.

SUMMARY:As You Like It: Save the Date: Celebrating England’s 1100th Birthday
DESCRIPTION:While national institutions may let this historic birthday pass without a grand state celebration\, we intend to throw a proper celebration for the realm. \nOn the afternoon of Saturday\, July 10\, 2027\, British Touring Shakespeare will bring an open-air performance of As You Like It to the Epidaurus Court here at Soulton Hall for the festivities. \nJuly 2027 marks a monumental milestone: the eleven hundredth anniversary of the unification of England. It has been eleven centuries since the pivotal events of 927 AD\, when Athelstan consolidated various regional territories into a single realm\, cemented by the submission of northern rulers and Viking leaders at Eamont Bridge. \nThat was the foundational year when disparate lands first came together under one coordinated governance\, effectively establishing the single kingdom of the English. \nThe classical geometry of the court provides a magnificent\, celebratory stage for pastoral comedy\, bringing the woodland revelry and resolution of Shakespeare’s play directly into the open air. \nBeyond the stagecraft\, hosting the party here grounds the milestone in a terrain connected to the memory of Saint Erkenwald. As a seventh-century bishop\, law-giver\, and early architect of English community and liberty\, Erkenwald represents the foundational spirit of the country long before its political consolidation. \nMark your calendar for a brilliant afternoon of drama\, heritage\, and celebration\, raising a glass to eleven centuries of English culture in a historic setting. \nFurther details and ticketing information will follow in due course.
